BRAND NEW ADVENTURE CLUB FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE TIDWORTH COMMUNTITY AREA
Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, young people living in the Tidworth Community Area are set to benefit from a brand new adventurous sports club. Dubbed the T2a club, youngsters will be able to take part in alternative sporting activities, which include mountain biking, skateboarding, climbing, orienteering and water-based sport.
Supported by Tidworth Development Trust and Kennet District Council, the scheme has been created in response to various consultations, which identified the need to provide activities for young people in the local area.
Tidworth Development Trust’s Community Development worker, Hilary Hollinsworth has been instrumental in securing the funding, she said: “It was exciting to actually be successful in achieving lottery funding, and although it’s not a lot of money I’m still very pleased to be part of providing adventurous activities to young people in the Tidworth Community Area.”
Aimed at ages 11 to 18 year-olds, those joining the club will get a FREE hoodie. The joining fee will be £5 and gives the member a reduced pay as you go fee of only £1! Non-members can still join in at a cost of £2 per session.
Clare Draper the area’s Leisure Development officer for Kennet District Council said: “We want to give young people the opportunity to participate in adventure and alternative sports and this club has all the potential of doing just that. There will be a whole range of activities aimed at providing something that is just that bit different for our young people,” said Clare.
T2a’s first session kicks off with climbing on Thursday 2nd March at Tidworth Leisure Centre (TLC).
