COLLINGBOURNE YOUNGSTERS ORGANISE DISCO AND PROVIDE FUN FOR ALL

Fed up being labelled ‘anti-social teenagers’, a group of youngsters from Collingbourne Ducis decided to put their own time and effort into organising a village disco for young people in the Collingbournes and Everleigh areas.

Fifteen year-old, ‘Tiff’ Wernham headed up the group who designed their own posters and planned the event from start to finish. “The disco was wicked and with help from Baz Reilly at Castledown Radio and support from our local Spar shop, we put on a disco in our village hall that was really good fun,” said Tiff.

The disco and lights were supplied free of charge by AVDJ in Tidworth and the booking fee for the hall was paid for by Tidworth Development Trust.

With Castledown Radio’s Baz Reilly and Sophie the ‘Mix Master’ as guest DJs the event proved to be a huge success.
“This is just what the young people in the area needed, all youngsters want is something to do. I take my hat off to this group for organising an event like this – it’s no easy task and to actually pull it off is really commendable, I hope they are really proud of themselves,” said Baz Reilly.

Entrance fee for the evening was set at £1 for teenagers and £2 for families.  The disco enabled the youngsters to make a total of £31.45 profit, which will be used to stage the next event, which is planned for some time in the Easter holidays.
