Weyhill Electronic OrganSociety Presents

Concert at The Lights, Andover - Thursday 16 October 2008

featuring THE KEYKLIX KLAN

Ian Griffin is a very popular performer on the UK organ circuit.  In 1980, he appeared as one of the artistes at Britain's very first residential organ and keyboard festival, at Pontin's Barton Hall Holiday Centre in Torquay, followed a year later at Pontin's Tower Beach Holiday Centre, North Wales, with a record audience of 2,000 electronic organ enthusiasts.  In 1984, he appeared on Spanish Television and in 1985 he performed at the first Caister Keyboard Cavalcade Festival. In the same year, he opened his own recording studio (Melody Box) for artistes' backing, involving productions for many well-known performers.  In 1990, Ian formed his own cabaret show band, ‘Casual Affair', which has made several appearances on HTV's 'Friday Live' programme, featuring famous celebrities.  In 1997, Ian became Musical Director and Associate Producer for Pontin's Keyboard Special Events at Barton Hall, Torquay and has since co-produced The Lyme Bay Holiday Village Keyboard Festivals.  On two occasions, he has been invited to perform at organ festivals in Holland and is always in demand for concerts and festivals throughout the UK.

Richard Bower performed his first concert in 1979 and the following year saw him perform his first session backing a cabaret artist.  In 1982, he appeared on BBC1 Television and local radio after winning the Home Organist of the Year Award.  Two years later, he turned professional and toured the UK with a major Japanese manufacturer.  In 1989, Richard produced his first solo album, following this with his first solo broadcast on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio WM.  He then commenced a series of shows backing local and national celebrities and performed at an open-air concert backing national TV stars.  In 1993, Richard started another phase of his musical career by establishing a Yamaha Music School.  However, he still found time to be recorded live on stage for BBC Radio Bristol in 1994.  The following year, he released his second album, tracks from which were broadcast on BBC Radio 2.

Together, Ian and Richard are known as Keykilx.  They  first met at a keyboard festival in 1985, when they sat at two different organs and played a duet.  They quickly realised that they had the ability almost to read each other's minds - in a musical way.  In 1987, the duo recorded their first album and two years later they broadcast on the BBC Radio 2 programme, 'The Organist Entertains', from a live concert at a national organ festival.  Their respective keyboard skills have certainly "clicked" - and they have become one of Britain's most entertaining duos.

Andy Oakley has comedy in his genes and is the man that television is waiting for ... at least, according to those who have seen him at Pontin's Barton Hall and at the Lyme Bay Keyboard Experience.  He is a very experienced comedian who has been working professionally in the entertainment industry for nearly 30 years.  His credits include cruise ships, luxury hotels world wide, holiday centres, clubs at home and abroad and theatre shows (including frequent summer shows at the Babbacombe Theatre, Torquay), for which he has received much critical acclaim.  He is a sure-fire winner with any audience, young or old, and although a stand-up comic in his own right, he is also a fine vocalist.  For an evening of pure entertainment you need look no further than this very talented man.  There is no doubt that Andy is a multi-talented performer and this has been regularly highlighted at Lyme Bay, where he has not only been the compere but the star of the Keyklix cabaret show.  Together, the trio are known as The Keyklix Klan.
