Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service is warning local businesses about publications claiming to be connected to the Fire Fighters Charity. In recent weeks, the Service has received a number of queries from people approached to place advertising in community safety publications. Area Manager Gus Cuthbert, director of operations, said: "We have been contacted by businesses who have been asked to advertise in various booklets. As a Service, we are not involved in or endorsing any form of publication at this time; equally, the Fire fighters Charity locally and nationally is not promoting any community safety publications."

Mr Cuthbert added: "Anyone selling advertising on behalf of Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service at any time will have a letter of authority from us, so I would urge anyone approached to buy space in these publications to make some checks."
