Practical? Considerate? Supportive? Outstanding People Skills? If so, Wiltshire Police want to hear from you!
Wiltshire Police are looking for confident, level-headed individuals, with good communication skills to join their Neighbourhood Policing teams as Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and are holding a recruitment awareness evening at Police Headquarters, Devizes on Monday 4th December at 7pm.
As the eyes and ears of the police within the community, PCSOs complement the work of police officers, performing a vital role in helping to address low level crime and anti-social behaviour. The role is one of great responsibility and is highly varied. A typical day might start with a foot patrol of the neighbourhood, drop in visits to local residents and businesses to discuss low level crime, supporting fellow officers at a crime scene, before finishing the day at a local school speaking to parents and students.
New recruits will receive training which will include preserving crime scenes, collection of CCTV evidence and acting as a professional witness, as well as tutoring in first-aid and self-defence. Potential recruits will need to have a rapport with their local community, effective communication skills and the ability to apply common sense to solve a wide variety of problems. Applicants are expected to have the stamina to support them through an eight to ten hour shift, the majority of which will be spent outdoors on foot.
So, if you are Practical, Considerate, Supportive with Outstanding people skills and want to find out more about becoming a PCSO why not attend the awareness evening on Monday 4th December?
