The Tidworth Area Board will launch on Monday, July 6 at Phoenix Hall, Netheravon. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be chaired by Christopher Williams and will set the scene for how area boards will work across Wiltshire.

There will be an opportunity for local people to meet their newly elected Wiltshire councillors, to discuss issues relevant to them and find out how they get resolved.

There will be an update from the community partnership and information on the community plan. There will also be an update on the issues raised during the pilot phase which include signage in and around Tidworth, recycling skips in Ludgershall car park and ambulance response times.

Val Powley, the community area manager for Tidworth will explain her role in supporting the area board process and interfacing with service managers from the council and other public agencies, such as the Police, health and fire and rescue services.

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting will be welcome at the Phoenix Hall from 6.30pm with the meeting starting at 7pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Christopher Williams, chair of the Tidworth Area Board, said: “The Tidworth community area welcomes the new area boards. We look forward to lots of participation from the people living in our local communities.”

Area boards will form a key part of the decision making structure of Wiltshire Council and ensure decisions about local issues are made locally. These new style meetings will identify issues of genuine local concern and respond quickly and effectively with practical action.

Local people will be able to sign up for e-mail alerts about what is happening with their area board and a forward plan of forthcoming agenda items will be available. For more information about the Tidworth Area Board, or to sign up for e-mail alerts, contact Val Powley, community area manager on 01722 712487.
