After months of campaigning by the locals in Chute, The Cross Keys Inn is saved and is set re-open its doors on Saturday 04th March 2006.
The re-opening of The Cross Keys Inn is also the lead story in the Feb/March edition of 'Pulse', the community area newsletter delivered to every house in the Tidworth Community Area. The the Feb/March edition of 'Pulse' can be read by clicking here.
“The ‘Save our Pub’ campaign was brilliant. It gave us the opportunity to bring the pub back to life and bring it back to the heart of the community, which is exactly what a village like Upper Chute should have,” said, new Landlord George Humphrey.

He took time out of his busy schedule to telll Castledown Radio’s Baz Reilly how thrilled he was with the amount of support he had received from residents.
George said “I’m very grateful for all the effort the locals in the village have put in to help re-open this beautiful rural pub, I’m obviously delighted and very much looking forward to getting the pub open again, particularly for the villagers in Upper Chute and all those people who fought so hard to keep it”.
A late licence is planned and although this may mean later drinking hours, there will be no 24-hour opening. The pub will remain focused on traditional drinking times.
George added “When both my wife and I saw the pub, we immediately fell in love with it, Chute is a wonderful place. All the people we’ve met before and since we’ve bought the pub are absolutely fabulous and so welcoming. We’re just looking forward to meeting more and more people and welcoming them into Cross Keys Inn”.
