Rural Needs Initiative (RNI), Trio Childminding Support and Tidworth Development Trust recently teamed up to put on a very special ‘Teddy Bears’ picnic. It all formed part of Child Safety Week and was aimed at promoting children’s safety at a local level.  Castledown Radio's, Shirley Swain chatting to Caz Wickenden The event took place on the grounds of Tidworth Community Centre and despite the windy weather; parents and children alike enjoyed a whole lunchtime of fun activities, including an egg and spoon race, welly throwing, face painting and a best teddy competition, culminating in everyone nibbling on teddy bear cake.  Childminder, Lisa Jacques and Trio's, Emma Procter “We have had a few firemen who have cheated really badly with the egg and spoon race. The children have stuck to the rules and have done it all properly , putting the firemen to shame. We’ve also had some welly throwing, which has been a bit dangerous, but all part of the fun,” said Caz Wickenden from Rural Needs Initiative.  Three year-old, Jasmin Barret just wants to be your Teddybear! Keeping with the theme of safety, Community Police Officer, Holly Thompson attended, alongside members of the Tidworth Fire Service. Every year more than two million children are taken to hospital after having an accident. Emma Procter from Trio Childcare Service, said: “We want to promote child safety to parents and childminders in the area. This is fun afternoon, but there is also a serious message behind it and that is to keep the children as safe as possible. With the police and the fire service here, we are promoting safety in as many different ways as possible.  Egging it to the finish line!
