Of the many military units based in the Tidworth Community Area, it is sometimes hard to understand what they do and the role they play as part of the British Army. Indeed, why are some groups of soldiers called Battalions and others Regiments?

6 Battalion REME is based on Assaye Barracks in Tidworth and is one of many specially trained groups of soldiers, who provide vital repairs to the Army’s range of tanks.
