During his stay he will be entertaining visitors with mystical tales from nature and sharing his knowledge of Native American beliefs and healing powers. Visitors will be able to join him around his camp fire, sit on animal skins and furs and listen to stories from the natural and spiritual worlds.
Shining Bear is famous for jamming the phone lines at the BBC: when he appeared on the Jonny Walker Drive Time Show in 2006, thousands of listeners were so moved by the story of his life and his evocative didgeridoo music that they phoned for more information and to hear more about Bear.
Shining Bear explains his shaman beliefs: "Over tens of thousands of years, our ancestors the world over, learned how to enhance the magical abilities of the human mind and spirit, for healing, problem-solving and general day-to-day living. The remarkable system of methods they developed is collectively known today as Shamanism.
The Shaman understands how to recognise, utilise, balance and draw together the forces of nature within a practice that comes in a form of being with great respect and awareness, and always for the higher good of their community."
Travelling the world, to share his music and learn more from indigenous cultures, Shining Bear is making this special stop-over at The Hawk Conservancy Trust to make both new friends and to spend time with old acquaintances amongst the Trust's eagles, hawks, vultures and kites. He has a particular affinity with the Bald eagles who graciously allow him to use their old feathers for his spiritual healing.
