Local residents are on a mission to help Sarsen Housing Association improve theirb neighbourhood. Hundreds of people have got involved in ‘Licensed to reply!' a community research project to find out what people think about where they live and how neighbourhoods can be improved.
Around 2000 surveys were sent to households in Wiltshire and Swindon, including Ludgershall and Tidworth, with a James Bond-style theme to whip up some interest.
Now Sarsen is holding ‘Licensed to reply!' feedback sessions in local areas to let residents know the survey results and start its plan of action for improvements. The events run from 4pm to 7pm with children's activities and a hog roast:
Tuesday, 29 July - The community centre, Wylye Road, Tidworth
Thursday, 31 July - The grassy area, Coronation Road, Ludgershall
Staff from Sarsen, the neighbourhood policing team, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and other organisations will be on hand to talk to residents.
Annette Holdsworth, Sarsen's community development advisor, said: "We're doing these surveys every two years to find out more about our communities and the issues they face, such as health problems, crime levels, environmental worries and unemployment. When we know what matters most to residents, we can provide the projects and services that residents say they want."
Since the last survey in 2006 more than £100,000 has been spent on projects to benefit communities in Wiltshire and Swindon, including £67,000 on improving the appearance of neighbourhoods.
Sarsen's community development team works with local councils and other partners to provide community projects that focus on health, crime, home and environment, education and youth and leisure.
