Beat the RAP Challenge 2008

Welcome to ‘Beat the RAP Challenge 2008,' this year's community contribution to supporting our environment.

Back by popular demand, to support a community environment project, the ‘Rubbish Awareness Project' ‘RAP' which is aiming to beat last years recycling output figures for our community area. This years event will take place over a week from the 23 - 28th June and will effectively will involve the whole community, at least those that want to take part.

Again as last year we aim to Keep it Simple and allow different groups, organisations, schools, businesses and individuals all to try and do a little something to help protect our environment.

‘I throw the challenge open to all to support the project to help make a difference to our community.'

This year the overriding community theme will be to carry out a ‘Monitoring Log' for a week leading up to a ‘Black Box' collection day. This details all the items that are placed in our black boxes, a fairly simple task. When the log is complete the plan is to hand it in to Tesco's, Tidworth or Ludgershall  stores and a grand draw will take place and I am extremely pleased to say that Tesco are fully supporting our challenge and have donated 3 substantial prizes.

Tesco's have been very kind in supporting the venture and we need to pull together, to make the project a success.

The project as last year will involve all the schools, the military behind the wire, the quarters , the housing organisations, the businesses and KDC and we shall have themed days over the week detailing issues that we would like to raise the awareness on such issues as fly-tipping, enforcement, litter dropping a recycling centre etc.

The RAP will be predominantly Tidworth and Ludgershall for obvious reasons but anybody is welcome to join in and make a difference in their organisation or community.

I thank all of you for supporting this venture and I am sure if we achieve a little something from everybody we have achieved a lot over our area for our community.
