Tidworth Community Area’s top policeman, station commander, Sgt Nigel Porter spoke to more than twenty locals at the recent Ludgershall Residents Forum held on 16th May.
Nigel updated members of the community on the latest issues affecting people living in Ludgershall.
Drugs abuse was first on the agenda - announcing that a total of nine arrests had been made in connection with drugs, a growing problem police say they are trying to combat in the area.
“We can’t stop people using drugs, but we can disrupt the supply; therefore putting a temporary stop to the problem,” said Nigel.
Nigel also told the forum that from October, a neighbourhood police team is to be permanently based in Ludgershall, increasing community confidence and also acting as deterrent to would be law breakers.
On tackling the problem of people riding mini-motos’ without the correct insurance or helmets, Nigel added: “Those caught riding the vehicles without the necessary safety protection and insurance will be prosecuted. I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the community for their continued vigilance in combating this problem.”
