Police Appeal - Tidworth Assault PDF Print E-mail

Police are appealing witnesses following an assault, which took place outside the Clarendon Club in Tidworth on Sunday 25th June at around 8.45pm.  Police say the alcohol related incident resulted in a man being headbutted.

In recent weeks, Wiltshire police have been cracking down on alcohol-related crime and in a special campaign called Operation XS, more than 200 arrests have already been made across the region. Following the England v Equador game on Sunday afternoon, Assistant Chief Constable Peter Vaughan spoke out against the minority who cause trouble.

It seems, again, that most people were able to enjoy the match peacefully, but with a few exceptions. The number of incidents surrounding the match confirms that excessive drinking can lead to violence and abuse.  This will not be accepted. People have the right to go about their business and enjoy the football, with the experience being ruined by a small minority.”
