Tidworth police are appealing for information after a suspected bogus health visitor attempted to access a military married quarter.
The well-spoken and smartly dressed man called at the home and asked the mother whether he could look at her baby son.
The mothers suspicions were raised when no identification was offered.
The incident took place at around 2pm on Thursday 26th January.
Police have issued a plea for anyone else who may have been visited by the man to contact them. "Legitimate visitors carry identification and do not mind if it is verified," said DC Bob Carver.
The man was in his late 30s or 40s, 6ft tall and of slim build, with dark hair.
