Oxfam Charity Auction
Oxfam are hosting three charity auction events from October to December in Association with Semley auctioneers. The auctions at Shaftsbury will be looking to raise as much money as possible to help the needy and suffering of the world.
This will be the biggest charity auction to be held in the South West region and will incorporate all the Oxfam shops throughout Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire.
This Type of event has been profitable in the past where they have raised £35,000 in one Night in Nottingham. They have had first edition collectable books that have sold for £18,000 before and are looking for another little treasure that may have been overlooked.
Posters advertising the event have already begun appearing in shops across the South West region asking for people to help.
Among the items already going into the auction are three hand-drawn and signed pictures of Winnie the Pooh, and some hand painted Disney postcards which will all be valued before the event.
Oxfam are looking for a selection of good donations to sell, the types of categories covered by the auction are specialist Silver and Jewellery (13/10/07) Asian Art and Textiles (10/11/07) and Toys and Dolls (8/12/07). There will be a general auction after each of these on the specific night.
Anyone wishing to donate to this auction can go into their local Oxfam shop and drop off items and there will be feedback to all the shops involved.
This is a great chance to recycle that old inherited vase or silver that is taking up space and also a great way for people to help others who need it. So please have a look around and see what you can give and help to make a record breaking amount of money that will change people’s lives forever.
