TIDWORTH LEISURE CENTRE, THURSDAY 27th APRIL 7pm This Thursday will see the official launch of a brand new adventurous sports club for young people living in the Tidworth Community Area (TCA). Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, the T2a club will give 11 to 18 year-olds opportunities to take part in alternative sporting activities, which include mountain biking, skateboarding, climbing, orienteering and water-based sport. Supported by Tidworth Development Trust and Kennet District Council, the scheme has been created in response to various consultations, which identified the need to provide activities for young people in the local area. Tidworth Development Trust’s Community Development worker, Hilary Hollinsworth has been instrumental in securing the funding, she said: “The club has already got off to an excellent start and the response from members has been very good.” Local councillors and district council officers will attend the launch and although still to be confirmed it is hoped the new Garrison Commander for Tidworth, Richard Aubrey-Fletcher will also attend. The joining fee will be £5 and gives the member a reduced pay as you go fee of only £1! Non-members can still join in at a cost of £2 per session. Those joining the club will also get a FREE hoodie.
