Six a side football fans will be delighted to know that a brand new football league is all set to kick off on October 4th at Tidworth Leisure Centre, which will run for up to 10 weeks until the end of November. However, the league needs you! as a minimum of six teams are required in order to get the league up and running. Teams can be either military, civilian or even a mix of both, and the league will also be affiliated to the Wiltshire Football Association.
Matches will be played every Wednesday from October 4th, kick off is 6pm, and games should be completed by 9pm. The cost per team is £85, (based on a figure of 6 teams playing), however, the more teams that play the lower this cost is likely to be.
Games will last for 16 minutes with a 2 minute half time break and 2 minutes allowed for changeover. Wiltshire FA will manage the discipline system, yellow cards will cost £5, red cards £10 and match bans will apply for red cards or a build of yellow cards. A pay before you play system will be in operation, and players will only be allowed to play once they have handed in their receipts to the referee. Each player will also be required to sign a team sheet at the start of the league to stop participants playing for more than one team.
Councillor Paula Winchcombe – Sport and Leisure Champion “Football’s popularity goes from strength to strength and playing in a league fosters healthy competition and team spirit. Tidworth Leisure Centre is the ideal location for the league and I hope the project is well attended and becomes a permanent fixture in Tidworth community area calendar of events”.
Entry forms and full details about the league are available at Tidworth Leisure Centre, Nadder Road, Tidworth, SP9 7QN or by calling 01980 847140. Information will also be available on our website www.kennet.gov.uk/leisure
