Tidworth Police continue to add to its ranks as it announces the appointment of Maria Downhan, its first Community Support Officer (CSO).

Maria said: "I'm thrilled to be in post and equally thrilled to be working in this area. I love meeting people and chatting so I guess I'm well suited to the job."

The CSO role aims to provide a visual presence for people living in the area, in addition to developing good community ties.

Maria is hoping members of the community will feel they can approach her if they have any police related issues or problems they wish to discuss, but says she's up for a a sociable chat too.

"I really am friendly and if there are ever any offers of a cup of tea and a biscuit I'll always be happy to oblige.”
