Sunday the 28th June saw the Premier Grand slam martial arts event come to Andover for the first time where the Ludgershall Elite Unit showed their usual winning form. This was event five of seven and with a much bigger turn out than usual the team had a few more opponents to contend with.
First up for the Elites was Graham Morgan in his first ever competition after just six weeks of training battled his way through two opponents to win first place in the novice middle weight semi-contact section.Next up was Nigel North in the heavyweight novice semi-contact section who took the first place trophy home, Nigel also came fourth in his continuous division.

Chris Higgins took first place in the intermediate semi-contact section and battled his way through three opponents in his continuous section to bring home second place. Adey Wright had a tough job in his Heavyweight black belt semi-contact section finishing fourth but wowed the crowd by scoring an amazing three point jumping head kick in the final seconds of his match.
Lastly was Dave Thomas, disappointed from going out in his first round of semi-contact stepped up and took his Black belt continuous division by storm to get the first place trophy. The team training out of the Castledown centre are now preparing for event six which will be held in Portsmouth in September, the team highlights can be seen on YouTube under the name “ninjaboybob”
