"At Wiltshire Council's first meeting, local Councillors, Mark Connolly (Tidworth), Chris Williams (Ludgershall & Perham Down) and Charles Howard (The Collingbournes and Netheravon), moved the very first motion put to the Council.
The Councillors honoured their pledge to lobby for plastic and cardboard recycling for the whole of Wiltshire by submitting the motion on the first day they went to County Hall after the recent elections.
Mark Connolly explained "We had received many complaints before the elections about the lack of recycling of plastic and cardboard and decided this would be one of the main things we would fight on locally. The recent election results proved that this was a popular issue."
The motion was referred to the Council's Cabinet which is to review all of the Council's waste and recycling services. Wiltshire Council has inherited four different collection services that were operated by the former District Councils. It is hoped that a uniform service will be provided throughout the County following the review."
