Kennet Kanter 2007 takes place on the 1^st July 2007 at 11am, starting from The Green in Devizes, winding through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, taking advantage of the world renowned Kennet & Avon Canal and finishing on The Green but only after completing the gruelling crux of the course, Caen Hill Locks.

The 10 mile course is mixture of road, trail and cross country specifically designed to test the serious runner but also to give the less experienced, memorable vistas to take their minds off the work at hand.

The event comprises of the 10 mile race, a 5k Fun Run and the Kiddies Kanter.

The Kennet Kanter is organised by a local committee made up of Kennet District Council officers, Devizes Sports College and local running and events enthusiasts as a method of promoting Devizes and Kennet and a healthy lifestyle whilst raising funds for local and national charities and good causes, last year £1,892 was raised.

The chosen beneficiaries of this year's event are Devizes Opportunity Centre and The British Heart Foundation.

Councillor Paula Winchcombe, Member Champion for Recreation and Sports said: "This event, now in its third year, is a great event for local runners and an enjoyable day out for spectators too. I would like to thank everyone who has supported the Kanter this year, and to those who are volunteering on the day. The run will benefit two very worthy local charities."

The Event Committee is indebted to local sponsors Kennet District Council, Aquaid, G & S Fruits and the Healthy Life Bistro as well as the ongoing assistance of Oi Sambista, the Devizes Samba Band who bring the feeling of carnival to the whole event.

The Registration Point for the 10 mile and Fun Run is in Devizes Leisure Centre Sports Hall, with the Registration for the Kiddies Kanter being on the school field behind the Leisure Centre.

Runners taking part in the 10 mile and Fun Runs can take advantage of a Free Swim at Devizes Leisure Centre from 1.30pm - 3.00pm on a first come first served basis.
