Public Consultation - 21st October 2006 Castledown Sports Centre, Castledown School, Ludgershall. Residents, ‘young and old’ from across the Tidworth Community Area (TCA) are being invited to a special consultation to ‘have their say,’ to take a ‘reality check’ and to discuss the future of area. If you value the area you live in and want to be a part of change and improvement, this event is the perfect opportunity to get involved. There will be a presentation by members of Tidworth Community Area Partnership (TCAP), which will highlight many of the successes that have been put in place, as well as projects that require further work. Based on a thirty-year vision, TCA’s community plan was published in December 2003 covering the first ten years, with its main aim to massively improve the area and its facilities. A strategic action plan, based on the community plan, was completed in 2005 and set out priority projects and actions. The work to complete projects and actions has already been a huge success and because of TCAP’s unique partnership work this has attracted international interest. Some of the successes include improved employment opportunities, transport links, community radio and numerous projects for the area’s youth. Conceived through in-depth consultations with the public and business sector, the community plan lead to the formation of nine working groups, which specialise on many community issues: Communications, Health and Social Care, Education and Lifelong Learning, Transport, Housing and the Built Environment, Crime and Community Protection, Economy, Culture and Leisure and Countryside and Land Based. Steve Lawton, the Chairman of the Community Plan Coordinating Group, said said: “I hope this latest consultation will ‘enthuse’ TCA residents by informing them how much the Community Plan has helped the area, but also to gain guidance from them on what else is needed, and, indeed if we are doing anything wrong.” Two events will take place on Saturday 21sth October at Castledown Sports Centre and will consist of a morning session for adults from 9am, with a free buffet lunch and an afternoon session from 3pm for young people, including a disco.
