Kennet District Council is working hard to improve its recycling provision of two materials that it can not currently collect at the kerbside...plastic bottles and cardboard.
Residents who wish to recycle their plastic bottles and waste cardboard can currently do so at any of the following places;
1. Household Recycling Centres in Hopton Industrial Estate, Devizes and Everleigh
2. Recycling Bring Site, George Lane car park, Marlborough
3. Parish recycling skips, please speak to your parish council or phone Kennet for more details
Plastic waste can be hard to avoid due to over packaging in supermarkets. However, you can reduce the amount you buy by making choices when out shopping and refusing carrier bags and products that are unnecessarily packaged.
Councillor Brian Twigger, Kennet's Recycling Champion said; "Residents are frequently telling us they want a service for recycling plastics and cardboard and the Council is working hard to make that a reality. However, in the interim, residents can take their bottles and cardboard to any of the places mentioned where they will eventually be recycled into fleece clothing, park benches and even new recycling boxes."
All plastic bottles, including drinks, shampoo and bleach containers can be recycled at the above locations but please rinse out and squash wherever possible.
