Having a go at being a news reader is just one of the unusual activities on offer for youngsters at Zouch Primary School, Tidworth, as they take part in ‘Exciting Writing Week’, 13th – 17th March 2006.
By special invite from the school, Castledown Radio has leapt at the opportunity to be able to give children a chance to learn all about radio - what really goes on behind the scenes and how radio programmes are produced.
With an abundance of buttons to push, microphones and earphones to use, children will get hands on experience and be involved in the whole process of producing their very own recordings.
Head Teacher, Tina Evans said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to work with a real life radio station, which can only serve to enthuse, encourage and motivate their confidence. I think the children will be very excited at the prospect of being live broadcasters.”

At the heart of the station is Project Officer, Baz Reilly and he says: “This is going to be fantastic for the children, setting fire to their imagination with radio and encouraging them to learn will be lovely to see and do. This station really is for everyone in the community and being able to reach the younger part of the community is just great”.
