A new memorial at St George's Church Bulford, commemorating soldiers of 12 Mechanized Brigade who have died on active service since the Brigade's reformation in 1999, was dedicated on Remembrance Day. Relatives of those commemorated, General Officer Commanding 3rd (United Kingdom) Division and 500 soldiers representing all 12 Mech Bde units were present.

The plaque and book of remembrance are situated within the Church. The ceremony was based around a conventional Remembrance Service with music from the Band of Gurkhas and a bugler to announce the ‘two minute silence'. During the Service, there was a formal dedication to the Memorial led by the Deputy-Chaplain General to the Armed Forces. The brass memorial plaque and book of remembrance have been paid for by contributions from units, Regimental and Regional funds, and inscribed on it are 44 names of soldiers who have sacrificed their lives whilst serving with the Brigade.

"The memorial will serve two key purposes: a poignant reminder to those soldiers currently serving in the Brigade and, more importantly, a spiritual focal point for those families that have lost loved ones on recent operations. Furthermore, it will foster the Brigade cohesion and identity we seek, particularly as more Brigade units move to the Bulford area over the next two years," explained Brigadier David Cullen, Commander 12 Mechanized Brigade.
