As part of Wiltshire Council’s commitmentto local, open and honest decision making, council meetings will be held atlocations across the county. The cabinet, responsible for the day-to-dayimplementation of the council's overall policy, will meet in different areas ofthe county to make it easier for the public to attend, particularily whenmatters, local to them, are being discussed. The next cabinet meeting will beheld at 10.30am at the Alamein Suite, City Hall, Salisbury on July 15. And it is not just the main cabinet thatwill meet around the county; planning applications will continue to beconsidered and determined by planning committees in one of the four areas wherethe application is relevant. Individual licensing sub-committees willalso meet in one of the four areas of the county to which their businessrelates. And the new-style area boards, where issuesare raised and dealt with locally, will meet in the heart of their communitiesin towns and villages across Wiltshire. Jane Scott, leader of the council, said:“By spreading our meetings around the county we can ensure that local peoplehave the opportunity to be involved and become aware of the decisions that arebeing made that might affect them." “When the new council for Wiltshire wascreated people were concerned that all the council's business would be centredin Trowbridge.
