Baz Reilly, Castledown Radio’s Station Manager, said “It was very interesting to see how they operated, in particular how they were dealing with the different language barriers due to a high level of immigrants in the City from lots of different countries and their work with young people. We learnt a great deal and brought back some ideas to try out. We look forward to seeing members of their team in September and I know from talking to them about what we do, they will learn things from us.”

Tidworth Development Trust has been awarded funds, by the ‘Sustain the Plain’ programme, for Castledown Radio 104.7 FM to cooperate and deliver collaborative work with two community radio stations – Forest FM in Verwood, Dorset and Community Voice Radio in Athens, Greece.
‘Sustain the Plain’ is a grant making programme to deliver projects across Salisbury Plain, funded primarily by EU and Defra with partners also contributing. The EU stipulates that a proportion of their funds must be used on cooperation work between projects both nationally and internationally.
The work will involve visits by staff and volunteers to the stations and reciprocal visits by their staff and volunteers to Castledown Radio. A seminar will be held on 12 September 2007 in Tidworth, whilst the Greek staff and volunteers are visiting, to which other community radio stations and people connected with this tier of broadcasting will be invited to attend.
