Castledown Radio's Baz Reilly is no stranger to providing broadcast training to people in the local community, but this week Baz greeted a special visitor from Kenya.
Twenty year-old Loise Klambugu from Nyeri in central Kenya is currently in the UK in a bid to join the British Army.
It has been six weeks since her arrival; born out of a unique partnership between the British Army in Kenya and an Army family in the local area. “I am very happy to be here and to be given the opportunity to gain a good job. There is limited employment in Kenya – only 4% of our population is employed.”
After spending the morning with Castledown Radio staff, Loise donned earphones and had a go at being a DJ, something she had not ever dreamed of doing back in Kenya. She said: “I have had the most enjoyable day and I will never forget it. I am hungry to learn and the time here at the radio station has given me so much pleasure.”
Loise would like to become a Medic in the British Army and awaits a final interview in which she hopes to persuade MOD recruitment officers to enlist her.
To here to find out what Loise thinks of our British weather and of her passion to become Medic!
