Sparsholt College Countryside Day

Saturday 17th May 2008, from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Admission Prices:
Adults - £6.00
Children (5 - 16) - £3.00
OAPs - £5.00
Families (2 adult, 2 children) - £15.00

Woodland Crafts Village Fete Area family activities, displays & refreshments.

Big machines

Craft Fair - A great variety of craft stands

Helicopter rides* - see it all from the air. A short trip you’ll always remember (weather permitting)

“Public Meets the Countryside” area

Have-a-go clay shooting and archery

Demonstrations: Hawks, gun dogs in action.

Many, many outside exhibitors to inform and entertain.

Small Animals

Around the site Transport: Tractors / Trailers & the Friends of King Alfred’s Buses

Careers and Courses. Talk about the options and course areas with our admissions and section staff around the site. Exhibit by our new partners, Andover College.

The 400 acre farm with Sheep Shearing, Cows Milking, & Pig unit

Wildlife walks around the Deer Park

Horticultural section, with Plant Sales, Tropical House, Landscaping Demonstrations and a view of the famous BBC Radio 4 “Gardeners’ Question Time” garden with the Potting Shed.

Engineering - Big Machines, Tractors, Quad Bikes & Automotive Workshops. Radio Controlled quad course and Ornamental Metalwork. Rally ‘Ka’ maintained by our students.

Woodland Crafts, Saw Mill, Chainsaw work, Tree and Pole Climbing

Animal Management Centre. - The Veterinary Nursing Practice and expanded exotic animal building. Also, the animal enclosures, Grooming Centre & Kennels. Over 500 animals of 100 species - including: spiders, reptiles, exotic pheasants, mara, llamas & wallabies. Kiki, the Red Panda. Dog Agility Demonstrations

Equine Centre - Indoor Riding Arena, Jumping in the Outdoor Arena

National Aquatics Training Centre - amazing fish of all kinds. Further down, the Fishing Lake, next to the Fish

Gamekeeping section with Rearing Area and Countryside Care

Sports studies activities in the Farm area and in the sports centre. Great Wall Climbs and Fitness Testing.
