South Wilts Youth and Badger League result for Sunday 02nd December 2007.

Phoenix FC U14  9  v  Ludgershall Sports U14  1
Phoenix U14 rose from the ashes and inflicted a heavy defeat on Sports U14, with the fierce wind behind them in the first half they carved out a comprehensive 4 - 0 half time lead, Sports keeper Brad Hollis was unlucky as the strong wind carried the ball over him for the first, but had no chance with the others as the home team took full advantage of the conditions. Ludgershall kept attacking with Macauly Hollis chasing everything down the right flank, which Sports failed to exploit. Curtis Tough was unlucky not to score from an excellent long range free kick, but that apart the Phoenix goal was rarely threatened. George Argyrou led the defensive back four with Stuart Ratcliffe ably assisting, but the ball over the top was Ludgershall's undoing as the back line failed to act as a complete unit. Ludgershall should have made more after the interval but contributed to their own downfall with a lack of discipline, normally displayed by this capable squad, and this was punished by an in form Phoenix with  four more unanswered goals built through midfield and converted by a strong front line. Jake Reeve was tireless in midfield and made several penetrating runs forward but the Phoenix goal remained intact until  Curtis Tough bagged Sports only consolation goal, too little too late. Phoenix added the last to notch up an impressive home victory and climb to second spot in the league with Sports chasing the leaders in fifth position.

Phoenix FC U10  12  v  Ludgershall Sports U10B  0
Ludgershall U10B squad start every game well for the first ten minutes but fade as the match progresses and this again was the case at Walworth Sports Ground as Espirit Lift Services sponsored Sports U10B succumbed to an organised Phoenix squad, in a match played in extremely windy conditions. Curtis Topham despite the scoreline had a magnificent game between the posts, and was unlucky with the first as a ball that crossed the dead ball line was crossed back in and the goal awarded. This spurred on Phoenix to press for more goals and the visitors were under a constant bombardment, George Robinson and Craig Britten offered defensive resistance and Lewis Jeremy battled for every ball in midfield but home pressure gave the Phoenix youngsters a deserved 5 - 0 half time lead. The introduction of Sean Board posed some threats to the Phoenix goal but Sports struggled throughout the second half as they played into the strong icy wind. With conditions now in their favour Phoenix made full use of their skills to rattle in a further seven unanswered goals, three of which were unstoppable shots, and saw them record a deserved victory. Sports Man of the Match was Curtis Topham.
