South Wilts Youth and Badger League result for Sunday 18th November
Ludgershall Sports U8 2 - South Newton and Wishford U8 5
On a cold and wet Autumn morning second placed Sports under eight were hosts to fifth placed South Newton and Wishford. Conditions were not ideal for both sets of youngsters, who put on a brave display throughout. In the first quarter Sports were able to dictate the match with Keegan Gale and Josh Pike excelling in defence and Charlie Pike making penetrating runs down the right wing, but they were unable to convert any of the chances they'd created, the best being a sublime chip from striker Sam Mills. Against the run of play South Newton opened the scoring which lifted their performance as they pushed forward to open a two goal cushion. Ludgershall's youngster's never gave up and pinched a goal back before the break thanks to Sam Mills rounding off an excellent fluent passage of play. At the start of the second half Sports equalized courtesy of Sam Lundy, and were unlucky not to take the lead as Man of the Match Charlie Pike hit the post. A brief lapse in concentration gave South Newton a three - two advantage, and keeper Luke Padgett was unlucky to see a rebound following a superb save fall to a visitor's striker. At four two down Sports had to chase the game which left gaps in their defence, and they paid with the games last goal falling to South Newton and Wishford. All the youngsters on both teams gave their all in this latest league encounter. Ludgershall Sports U8 2 v ..South Newton and Wishford U8 5.
South Wilts Youth and Badger League under 12 cup result for Sunday 18th
November
Ludgershall Sports U12 4 v Spire FC U12 3
Quarter final cup action came to Astor Crescent as eight in the league Sports were at home against fifth placed Spire FC in a match that must have delighted Manager Tony Britten and coach Pete Mort. Ludgershall new signing Matty Nabogi showed his class in starting a move from within his own half that saw Luke Bates open the scoring for Ludgershall. Spire were stopped in their tracks by a well disciplined back four combination of Daniel Rosser, Ben Roberts, Kyle Peel and Daniel Britten that gave the home team chances to push forward. Constant pressure led to two consecutive corners and Chris Scott capitalised to double Sports lead going into the dressing room two - nil up at half time. Spire's half time pep talk did the trick and they came out in the second half determined to get back into the match, they were awarded a penalty which
was converted after the original Jordon Padgett save. Ludgershall's response was an excellent chip from Luke Bates to restore the two goal advantage, and with Harry Lawton controlling midfield the next round beckoned. The visitor's had a different opinion and to their credit pushed forward, a wayward ten minute spell saw Spire grab two goals to level the score and pave the way for a frantic last quarter of an hour. Last week's Man of the Match Aston Davis was a constant threat and the Sports lead was restored with Luke's hat trick, in a last ditch effort Spire threw everything at Sports who have Jordon Padgett to thank for two outstanding saves which takes them into the semi final draw. This was cup football at it's best and both teams should be congratulated on their spirited performance. Ludgershall Sports U12 4 v Spire FC U12 3
