South Wilts Youth and Badger League result for Sunday 25th
November
South Newton & Wishford FC U8 3 v Ludgershall Sports FC U8 0
Second placed Motorvate sponsored Sports U8 lost out in a
thrilling away fixture at South Newton and
Wishford. Despite good Ludgershall pressure from winger Charlie Pike and front
strike partners Sam Mills and Sam Withers, the home defence could not be
breeched. Sports Man of the match Keegan Gale was rock solid in defence, assisted
by Rebekah Collins who between them stopped the South
Newton attack on several occasions. In the second half South Newton came out a more determined outfit, and
despite Sport's best efforts scored two goals in quick succession to seize the
initiative. Ludgershall's youngsters never gave up the chase and Josh and
Charlie Pike put the home team under pressure, with Sam TT Townley Taylor
toiling away in attack, however, home resistance and persistence was rewarded
with a third goal and a three - nil victory
Ludgershall Sports FC U10A
0 v Durrington Rangers FC U10 3
Top of the table Durrington Rangers were the visitor's to Astor Crescent determined
to avenge the home draw inflicted by Sports two weeks ago. Sports fielded a
depleted team through injuries and illness and took to the field with a basic
seven man squad. Stand in keeper Cullum
Bannerman was unlucky to concede an early goal, but his and the efforts of Sean
McDonald, Nathan Collins and Adam Hetherington kept the visitors at bay
for the remainder of an evenly matched
first half. Michael Rowley's runs down the
flank were not converted by the Ludgershall strikers and a Nil -One score line
at half time was a fair reflection of play.Sport’s set plays on corners were
excellent and troubled the visitor‘s defence on every attack. Manager Mick
Walsh must be pleased with the progress and
discipline of his team, and their attacking qualities and display definitely
deserved a goal. However, Durrington were able to capitalise as gaps opened and
they added a further two second half goals to run out winners three - nil
Ludgershall Sports FC U10B
3 v Amesbury Bears U10 9
Sports U10B would like to thank Castledown Leisure for their
kind contribution to the football youth section as they entertained Amesbury
Bears. This was Ludgershall's best performance of the season with an all round
team performance that saw them score three goals for the first time in this
campaign. Arthur Robinson pounced on a long kick out from in form keeper Curtis
Topham to grab his second of the season. Wayne Ashton was superb throughout and
was justly rewarded with a goal, and Sean Board's persistence was duly acknowledged
with Sports third. Despite the defensive qualities of Lewis Jeremy and George Robinson
Bears scored four first half goals to lead two - four at the interval. However,
Sports were still in the hunt and never gave up hope contesting every ball .
The home teams disciplined first half shape began to disappear and Amesbury
grabbed the inititive scoring five second half goals to win a keenly contested
encounter.
