Through the Local Government Act 2000, the Government placed a duty on local authorities to set partnership structures in place to ensure that community strategies are prepared and implemented by a broad “local strategic partnership” through which all local bodies could work together. As a result, the Kennet Local Strategic Partnership was formed (district-wide) and the Tidworth Community Area Partnership (TCAP), as a Community Area Partnership, evolved from the Tidworth Regeneration Partnership, which was widened to include businesses, private, public and voluntary sector organisations, the education sector and local people from across the whole Community Area.
